Last night Ariel and I flew home from Utah. The first leg of the journey was somewhat comical. My top 3 things Ariel did on board:
1. Relentlessly try to wake up the sleeping teenage girl sitting next to us. I finally had to remove Ariel from this situation which led to number 2.
2. While walking up and down the aisle 82 times, Ariel stopped to take a bite out of a passenger's shoes. This girl was wearing some Ugg like boots with spongy soles, her leg was crossed and her shoe was in the aisle a little lower than eye level. Ariel is getting her molars and has started biting pretty much everything, like teething babies do. Unfortunately, this time it was the sole of a stranger's shoe.
3. Tiring of the woman's shoe, Ariel continued down the aisle and tried to wrestle a man's novel out of his hands. She gave it her best effort but, never the less, the man won.
None of this made me lucky (note the title of this post) but it was the next leg of the journey where my luck began. The ticket agent at the gate was looking for 8 volunteers to get on the next flight. On her third request (and after a quick phone call to Mike) I decided to volunteer. For my reward, I got dinner and an airline ticket. Fabulous. But where I really scored was that my original flight never made it to our destination. Before touchdown, they turned around and headed back to their airport of origin. So if I had stayed on the flight, I would not have made it home until the wee hours of the next morning. However, I am still waiting for my luggage that stayed on that plane.

Rest assured that if I HAD seen you, I would have said hi now that I know you look exactly like you do in pictures...that's what threw me off last time...I figured there was no way I knew exactly and instantly who you were having only seen via blog world...Hope the wedding was fab, and I so have done the torturous flight with children...once from Utah to Florida...by myself, with two kids, a car seat, a stroller, diaper bags and luggage. Yikes.
Have you had any good traveling experiences in the last few years? That's gross about the shoes. Seriously.
You gotta love flights with kids! Every time I fly by myself with my kids I swear it's the last- but for some reason I keep doing it. I think once I have three, there will be no way someone can talk me into it.
I love the perks they give when you choose to get bumped to the next flight- you scored big time!
Lucky you now you can go home to Utah again!
Okay, seriously you had Bells Palsy at this age? I am so relieved to hear that. Do you know how long it lasted? She is starting to get really self-conscious about it.
That is Awesome, the teenage girl next to you that Ariel was trying to Awaken! haha oh and that you had a great 2nd flight. I am so bummed that i missed you this weekend, i would have lOVED to see you guys! Hope you had a great time skiing!!!
Who got married??!!
Sounds like you did luck out on that second flight! One of these times when you are in Utah and have time, we should plan a girls lunch. That'd be a blast!
Score! I just had a pretty bad flying experience with Sterling last night and I have nothing lucky to show for it, except that we are both alive still, mainly him though.
