This morning before breakfast it was -17. When I decided to take a picture it had warmed up to -15.7. This is of course without the wind chill and there is wind. They cancel school here when temperatures reach -20. You have to be TOUGH to live in Wisconsin. This might also explain why people here tend to wear a little more insulation on their body.

equally impressive is how we maintain life on the inside at a cool 57.2 F. Grandpa's Marion and Hawkes would be proud of all the $ we are saving on heating. Oh and the date and time are off.
I would move if I were you.
Holy Crap that is cold. We just had a threat of snow and they canceled school and it did not even snow!!
sounds to me like you could use more insulation, skinny girl. break out the cookies. Need more advice about getting fat, just call, i'm an expert at this point!
When I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska they never cancelled school due to weather :-( But they did cancel seminary if it was below -30 at 6am at the airport. So all of us had the airport on speed dial and pretty much the month of February we never had seminary. We didn't get windchill there though. But in Anchorage I was in -60 windchill and I was going to die. The wind literally sweeped away a girl I was with and a guy had to go grab her.
I don't know how you keep the house at 57 degrees! I keep my house at 78 but that's because Dug won't let me have it at 82.
Every one kept telling me I was a wuss complaining about the cold in nyc. We had -7 the other day here in gold ole idaho, but add humidity to that and I'd die. BRRRRRR!!
I would consider Laura an expert at many things -- doing hair, being stylish, raising cute kids -- BUT GETTING FAT IS NOT SOMETHING LAURA IS AT ALL EVEN KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT!!! (unless you're talking about raising fat babies, and then maybe she does know a thing or two)
Lisa, that is just too cold. We were just talking last night about how we like winter until it gets down under 20 degrees - then it's just too uncomfortably cold. I don't even know what to say about -17. It's not good.
I would think that the temp was off too, except that I watched the Packers/Giants game and they kept showing the temp and windchill factor. We are not looking forward to a week of 20's temps! We are whimps.
No wonder people drink so much beer there.
So we do not keep our house at 57 degrees but we do have that thermometer thing in the window where it is probably 57. I keep the house a comfortable 70. Could you imagine how cold 57 would feel? Oouch!
Hi Mike and Lisa
This is Diane's little sister Kelly - we stayed in your apt in NYC a few years ago. That was so nice of you guys to let almost strangers stay there. Well, your post has tempted me to want to come visit you in Wisconsin. Okay - not really - I'm struggling with the sometimes under 50 weather in Southern Utah!
Anyway - you guys are such a cute family!
Kelly
Brrrrrr. No thanks. That is too cold for me. You are TOUGH!
I'll bet Mexico is sounding better every day!
So, anything new happening in Wisconsin, other than freezing temps? Maybe time for a new post?!
Uh, either TOUGH or crazy!? Just make sure you keep the suburban gassed up- would hate to run out in those temps! With all the $$ you're saving on your heating bill, I recommend a trip to warm, sunny Tucson where we have spent the afternoon at the park w/o jackets...
